John lives with his partner, Eric and their daughter, Mónica in California, far from the traditional rural life he left behind years ago. John's father, Willis a headstrong man, lives alone on the isolated farm where John grew up. Willis’s mind is declining, so John brings him west, hoping that he and his sister, Sarah can help their father find a home closer to them. Their best intentions ultimately run up against Willis’s angry refusal to change his way of life in any way.

VIGO MORTENSEN / VIGGO MORTENSEN
Viggo Mortensen (1958) has consistently earned acclaim for his work in a wide range of films. Some of these include Green Book, Captain Fantastic, A Dangerous Method, Eastern Promises, A History of Violence, The Road, Hidalgo, Alatriste, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He has received various nominations and awards from groups including
the Screen Actors Guild, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Mortensen is also poet, photographer, and painter. He is the editor of Perceval Press, an independent publishing house which he founded in 2002.
Lance Henriksen gives the performance of his career as an emasculated father facing dementia, but it's writer-director-star Viggo Mortensen who makes the film’s universal themes resonate so strongly
