VLASTIMIR SUDAR
FILM THEORETIST, DIRECTOR, CROATIA, JURY PRESIDENT
Vlastimir Sudar is a film writer, director and pedagogue, who graduated in London from the famous Central Saint Martins Faculty of Art and Design. His graduation short film Out was screened in 1997 at the Center for Contemporary Art in Barcelona. After graduating, he made several short films that were screened at festivals, most often in London, Berlin and Madrid. He is a co-author and producer of the feature film Borders, Raindrops (2018), which was screened at 30 festivals and won 13 awards, including for Best Film and Direction. He received his doctorate in 2007 in Scotland at the work of Aleksandar Saša Petrovič, and the book based on the doctorate “A Portrait of the Artist as a Political Dissident” was published by Intellect from Bristol in 2013, and translated by the author and the Film Center Serbia in 2017. He has taught film history and theory at the University of the Arts in London, Goldsmiths College, Oxford Brooks University, and is currently at Kingston University in London. He has published a number of essays mainly on Balkan film, and occasionally writes for the film magazine Sight and Sound.
DANIEL RAFAELIĆ
FILM CRITIC AND HISTORIAN, CROATIA
Daniel Rafaelić (1977) is a film historian, Egyptologist and film critic. He is the author of the books “Cinematography in the Independent State of Croatia” (2013) and “In the Shadow of the Pyramids: Ancient Egypt in Film” (2021). He is the co-author of “Orson Welles on Hvar” (2018), “Temples Abducted by the Nile” (2019) and for the University of Cambridge of the book “A History of World Egyptology” (2021). He has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb for many years, former director of the Croatian Cinematheque and director of the Croatian Audiovisual Center. He is also the screenwriter and director of the documentary The Other Side of Welles (2005), which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. The Yugoslav Cinematheque awarded him for his contribution to film art.
MIROLJUB STOJANOVIĆ
FILM CRITIC, SERBIA
Miroljub Stojanović was born in 1958. He graduated in world literature at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade. He is involved in film criticism, essays and research. He published his works in more than 40 magazines, daily newspapers and periodicals, and his original works are represented in about twenty film books. Texts about the film have been translated into six languages, and the rich bibliography is completed by numerous TV and radio appearances, lectures and forums. Dealing with Asian film and Asian cultures (residing in 24 Asian countries) has been the focus of his interests for years, with special emphasis on Indian and Japanese film. Editor of publishing department at the Film Center Serbia. Winner of the “Nebojša Popović” award for film criticism for 2020.
